FATCOW, Domain Parking and Adsense.

Kirk Sanchez: Could you please provide me the domain name which you wish to create the CNAME?

Tim : It says expired on 1/29/10. Do i no longer have this site? Did you charge me? I though you did.
Kirk Sanchez: You need to follow the steps to create the CNAME for your domain:
Kirk Sanchez: 1. Log into the control panel with the account username and password.
Kirk Sanchez: 2. Click on ‘Custom DNS Record’.
Kirk Sanchez: 3. Select the domain name and click on ‘Go’.
Kirk Sanchez: 4. Under the ‘Points To IP’ textbox, enter the IP address mentioned near to that textbox.
Kirk Sanchez: 5. Under the ‘Subdomains’ section, enter the subdomain name or CNAME and point it to the IP address or host address.
Kirk Sanchez: 6. Under the ‘Wildcards’ section, enter the IP address which you have entered in the ‘Points To IP’ textbox in the ‘IP/Domain/Alias:’ textbox.
Kirk Sanchez: 7. In the ‘Mail’ section, enter the MX record as mx/mail.fatcow.com and priority as 10.
Kirk Sanchez: 8. Click on the ‘Save Zone File’ button.
Tim : Ok, what about setting up A records?
Kirk Sanchez: Due to a technical glitch, your domain was showing inaccurate date in the Domain Central. Now, I have refreshed the Whois of your domain and resolved the issue.
Kirk Sanchez: You need to follow the same steps to update the A records.
Tim : ok, I'll give this a shot. ty.

Tim : ok, how do i get to the control panel? I found this layout so confusing, which is why i never developed it.
Tim : nevermind. I'm in it, but don't see the customer dns record
Kirk Sanchez: It was not added in your control panel. Now, I have added it.
Tim : snap
Kirk Sanchez: Could you please re-log into the account and check it from your end?
Tim : ok
Tim : i see it now
Kirk Sanchez: Great!
Kirk Sanchez: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Tim : no, i'll chat back and bother somone else if i need help. you've been great.

I wrote back after this. Turns out FATCOW is not able to set this up.

  1. Haha. Yeah, their livechat customer service seems to just consist of 'placate customer' buttons and predetermined solutions. Go for a ticket if you need real help.
