Today I read Mahmoud Ahmadinejadwill be ending his role in politics in 2013. It turns out Iran has a law just like the United States. The law does no permit a President to serve more than two terms.

I was under the impression the leadership of Iran was similar to something like Saddam. I didn’t think people had a choice. People had thought the last election was fixed. I thought they were all fixed. I remember the violent conflict which happened over the last election. My first sight of the violence was watching a young woman dying in the street with a love one holding her hand. Apparently, she had been shot by state police for protesting.

Hopefully, Mahmoud Ahmadinejadleaving will cause a more stable situation in the Middle East. Do we really need some madman controlling over half a million troops and his finger on a nuclear button in the near future. Anyone who publicly calls for an annihilation of a country is a madman in my book.

Is it possible someone will be elected who actually can build relationships with the west? Probably not; the Middle East is destined to be a hot spot till the end times.

I'm All in for Israel

According to If Americans Knew.org, we have decided to bank roll all of Israel’s wins in the Middle East. Well, good. Would you rather Iran be the dominate player in the region or Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood in charge.

The article states we are trying to get Israel more influence in NATO. Why not? I believe Israel is a key player on the world stage. Israel has held center stage for thousands of years.

I believe Israel is a shield to the United States against the radical extremist in the Middle East. Once that shield breaks, the entire might of our enemies will turn their attention to us. The stronger the shield the harder it is to break. Israel is the great equalizer we have in the region. Let our enemies beat themselves on an unbreakable rock.

We should take lessons from Israel on how to deal with our enemies. We haven’t won a war in 50 years and they have won all of theirs.

I also believe one of the reason’s our country continues to be blessed in spite of our idiocy is due to our support of Israel. The people who support Israel will be supported by God.

In addition, the website also claims we are just doing this to prepare for a new war against the Muslim world. Probably not; no one wants to anger a billion Muslims.  It’s more like the 3 little pigs and we chose to build our house with bricks.

It's All Bush's Fault!

It's All Bush's Fault. That's all I ever hear. "He spent us into the recession. He's policies crippled the nation. He's the worst President in 200 years. He didn't do a single thing right. He's the reason we are in Afghanistan.   Bush is the reason the Muslim world hates us. Bush, Bush, Bush." 

Fine. Just like a husband who wants his nagging wife to finally shut up, let’s all agree. It’s all Bush’s fault but for heaven’s sake pick a date; any date I don’t care. When is anyone ever going to stand up and say, “From this point on whatever happens is my responsibility?” Obama can’t seem to do it. The senate can’t seem to do it. People who support government take over can’t do it. Then who? When?

Are we going to elect Obama again? After Obama, do we get 8 years of Hillary? After those 12 years go by and we become the largest 3^rd world country on the planet, are we still going to claim Bush did it?

According to RockRiver Times, Obama is the 15^th best President ever to be elected. Aren’t 3 ½ years long enough to look back and say this is what we’ve accomplished? Instead all we get is the government cooking the books with the unemployment numbers and telling us we are doing fine? Really? Take a sobering look at the national debt clock. It doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

So, with our country drowning in debt, what does our supreme lifeguard do? He throws us a brick by granting amnesty (I don’t care what you call it) for 800,000 illegal immigrants. Now, citizens are going to have a harder time to compete in the market place because there are 800,000 more legal workers to compete against. What about all the immigration lawyers? Seems like they are getting screwed on this one.

In the end, I’m still only asking for one thing. Pick a date to claim responsibility. 

The Right of Self Defense – Schools Should Try Harder

Schools continually say they are against bullying. They claim they are doing everything they can to stop bullying. I say Bullyshit. I don’t believe a word they are saying. If you want to stop something, then make it a zero tolerance policy. Too many chances are given to bullies and quite often, when the punishment is finally given, it includes the bullied? How is this supposed to have a positive effect?

In the region of the country we live in, my son is a minority. For quite some time he had to deal with the harassment of fellow classmates. At times, the harassment would be physical. I figured this would be the case early on. So, I enrolled my child into Martial Arts and he’s become quite adept at it. The rules we have instructed him to follow are: If someone hit’s you, tell the teacher. If someone hits you a second time, tell the teacher. If someone hits you a third time, Kung Fu their face.

So, as you can image this is exactly what happened. They called us and notified us they would be expelling my child on the next offense. This did not sit well with me. I scheduled an appointment with the principal to discuss the matter. I informed him it was his faculties’ fault that this happened and not my child’s. They should have stopped it the first time my child reported it. I said, “Look, put yourself in the following hypothetical situation: I punch you in the face. You call the police. They do nothing. The next day I punch you in the face again. You call the police and nothing happens. I punch you in the face on the third day. Are you just going to continue letting me hit you in the face and do nothing?

His response was it didn’t matter they could not allow this to happen. My next question was, “Why does the bully get 3 times before a warning of expulsion and my son only gets 1. He denied knowing anything about the first two events.

We settled on my son bringing the matter directly to the principle from then on and he would handle the matter. To his credit, he was good for his word. But I ask you, how many times does it come to this in schools all across the nation. How many times has it been dealt with too late and someone has died?

The good news now is my son is very good at martial arts and has tons of confidence. Kids just look at him and realize they don’t want to mess with him. Awesome.

The New York Tyrants

Another group of politicians are trying to oppose their will upon their citizens. This time it’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg and friends. They have decided to limit soda type drinks to 16 ounces. Seriously? Get a grip Mike. Most places put 8 ounces of ice in the damn cup. In your brilliance, you decided refills are OK. So what your implying is the 10 calories someone burns going back to the fountain will make a difference?

According to fox news, “The ban would not apply to diet sodas, fruit juices, dairy-based drinks or alcoholic beverages.” If you are so smart how come you don’t know that diet sodas have been proven to be more fattening than regular drinks? Fruit Juices? Do you have any idea how much sugar is in most fruit juices.

Here’s a tip. Outlaw wide straws. People will drink less.

These mini tyrants just keep adding insult to injury. They continue to outlaw everything in the name of Security, Hearth, and Equal Rights. When in reality they are just grabbing more power to feed their over sized egos.

Yesterday, I mentioned how saying Jesus in school has been banned and public profanity was banned by a small town in Mass. Now, we can add large sized sodas. Next they are talking about going after popcorn? I can just see it now; instead of buying one big tub of popcorn for my family at the movies for $6.50, I’ll have to buy 4 small bags of popcorn at $4 apiece. I don’t see how this is helping me. In addition, have they even considered hot air popcorn is actually a healthy snack?

I’m telling you if people don’t get off their asses and vote for people who want less government we will end living like slaves.

Why Do I Have to Type www. for My Blogger Site?

There is an option inside your domain settings you need to set up.

Yesterday, I finally made the decision to purchase a domain name for this blog. I was excited about the name. Today, while at work my friend asked me, “What’s new?” I informed him about the website. We both took out or smart phones and typed in the address. To my surprise, we both received 404 Errors from Google. Not cool. Just like most people; I no longer type www in front of websites domains when loading them.

At this point, I’m a little perturbed but figured it was probably an easy fix. I knew the problem was going to be finding the instructions.

Since the web address worked right away, I didn’t bother to check my emails at the time. Since you need to get into the administrator’s dashboard, this is important. So…

Locate and open the email from Google, titled “Google Apps -- Domain registration confirmation.”

Click on the long link in the second paragraph

This will allow you to set up a username and password. (Look for a pin number. You’ll need it)

Get the pop-ups out of the way.

Click on “Domain Settings.”

Click on “Domain Names.”

Click on something that looks like “Redirect the naked domain (http://onlinemeltdown.com) to http://www.onlinemeltdown.com
Change redirect” This copied afterwards, but it’s real close.

It should already be set for what you want. Just click submit.

You may think you are done but you are not. Now right below the redirect option it will tell you to log into the account for the company that owns this domain. It should be Go Daddy.

Middleborough, Mass Fines People for Swearing

I don’t like to hear people swear in public. I find it, well, vulgar. I believe there are times and places for everything. Profanity has a place but I don’t believe it’s in public. I have a favorite analogy but due to the language I won’t list it here. Unfortunately, profanity has so infiltrated the minds of Americans, most of the time they don’t even realize they are using it. At work, I have pointed out to co-workers they are dropping F-bombs and their reaction is “I am?”

Although, this ticketing system has been voted in, I’m wondering if someone is going to cry unconstitutional. Can we really take away the right for people to say whatever they want in public? Do we really want too? First we can’t say Jesus in public schools and now we can’t say swear words on the street. This is just another example of government exerting too much control over people. If they can stop you from saying these two things, what stops them from continuing down this path? Is it so hard to fathom we are moving in a direction where the government decides what you can and cannot say in every aspect of life. Do we really want to be like China; where you can’t speak out against the party in power? Have you not currently seen how people who speak out against are current President are chastised? The state controlled media digs into these peoples' lives and persecutes them any way possible.

The fine is a good way to make citizens aware profanity is not acceptable to others in the community. Taking profanity out of public is about the general public letting others know it’s unacceptable. Let me explain. When a person who consistently using profanity visits a church or a girlfriend/boyfriend’s parent’s house they don’t cuss. Why? Because they know it’s unacceptable. So, although this law may be taken down by a court in the future, hopefully it will help notify the general public that their language is not appreciated.

How I Quit Smoking.

It's been over 15 years since I quit smoking. I look back and ask, "Why did I smoke?"  I probably started for the same reasons why everyone else smoked. Although most won’t admit it, it was because my friends smoked and they acted like they enjoyed it. There really is no other reason to try smoking.

You disagree? Let me guess. You walked into a store one day and saw these attractive boxes you didn’t really know anything about and thought, “I should try those.” So, you bought them, went outside, lit one up, took a really deep drag, let it all out and said, “Wow! That sure was relaxing.” Really? It’s amazing what people will try to convince you to believe just so they can believe it themselves.

Now, I have nothing against smoking or smokers. If there is someone I want to visit with and they are in the smoke area, I’ll go over and talk to them. It doesn’t bother me if they’re smoking. However, I won’t be caught in an enclosed location with a bunch of smokers. Haven’t you ever smelled your close when you come out of a club at night that allows smoking? Even smokers will agree it’s nauseating. 

This I actually have an issue with.

Back to how I quit smoking. It was a few days before New Year’s Eve. Three of my friends announced they would quit smoking as their New Year’s Eve resolution. I hadn’t thought about quitting but I said, “Then I’ll quit too.” It was a simple as that. I don’t know why or how but it was over. I did have an urge now and again to smoke but the urges passed pretty quickly.

The funny thing was out of the four people I was the only one to quit. Everyone else lasted about a week. Guess I was never a true smoker. I must have been one of the lucky ones. Maybe it was the right time and the right place to make a decision. A person’s subconscious is powerful source.

If you are thinking about quitting, go for it. Quit once, quit twice, quit even three times. Maybe this next time will the right time and the right place for the decision and it’ll finally stick.

Investment Plan – Daily Cost Averaging

Daily Cost Averaging (DCA) simply means you buy shares in a stock or fund on a regular basis. This is usually done per paycheck or per month. The idea behind this investment plan is to continue to buy shares no matter what the cost. The overall hope is in the long run the stock would be worth more than the average or what you paid for it. Simple, right?

The reason I would recommend DCA is due to its simplicity and it can work. You will hear many an “expert” tell you how this is a very bad investment strategy. Usually, they just want to sell you their services. After a few years of following the market, I have come to the conclusion; the best you can get from an expert is an educated guess. Try watching CNBC for a few days. Are you confused? It’s not your fault. You are watching advice from people who just aren’t sure about their judgment calls. In addition, they continually change their mind due to every little piece of information that comes out. You are incapable of doing this because you have a life.

Let’s cover three negatives associated with DCA. So, when someone tells you it’s a bad idea you can think about it.

The stock you are purchasing continues to go down and never regains its former status. A good example would be if you started to invest in Cisco 5 years ago. Yes, it might climb back up but I would not bet on it.  Take a look at the graph below. It plainly shows this would have been a bad investment strategy.

So, how do you use DCA without falling into this trap? Well, it’s called index funds. Index funds take a sampling of a multiple of stocks and package them together under a mutual fund. The most popular would be one that matches the S&P 500.  So, instead of buying shares of the top 500 companies in the United States one by one, you can buy shares in an S&P 500 index fund and own a little of each company. Now, every fund manager will tell you they are a better option. However, few are able to beat the index. It’s common knowledge that an index fund will beat 75% of all other funds in its niche.  

Why buy high when you can buy low? The stock market is a series of ups and downs. It is never a straight line. So, why would you buy when the market is high? Using Daily Cost Averaging is usually set up for automatic buying. The fact of the matter is most people are not going to watch the market to determine the correct time to buy. Worse yet, they will wait till it drops, buy some stock, watch it fall lower because they did not call the bottom, panic because it’s going even lower, sell at a loss, and then kick themselves forever when it goes back up. Take the debacle in 2008. At around the 7,000 mark, I changed my 401K contributions from 5% to 15%. Why did I do that? At that point, either the market was going to go back up or our money wasn’t going to be worth anything anyways if it hit zero. This was one of the good decisions in my life. In addition, I still believe our market will top 16,000 again. Why? History says so.

Is anyone promising a better option? If they are, get it in writing. Be sure not to show up on American GreedOtherwise, I’m sure this makes sense and it’s an option you could consider. After all, this is the whole thought process towards 401k plans and people won’t tell you they are a bad idea.
